What is milling?

CNC lathes can be used to process complex revolving body shapes. Milling is to fix the blank, feed it on the blank with a high-speed rotating milling cutter, and cut out the required shape and characteristics. Traditional milling is mainly used for milling simple shape features, such as contours and grooves. CNC milling machine can process complex shapes and features. The milling and boring machining center can carry out three-axis or multi-axis milling and boring machining, which is used for machining molds, gauges, fixtures, thin-walled complex curved surfaces, artificial prostheses, blades and so on. When selecting the content of NC milling, we should give full play to the advantages and key functions of NC milling machine.

A common cold working method of metal, different from turning, is that in milling, the tool rotates at high speed driven by the spindle, while the workpiece is relatively static.

The difference between turning and milling;

Turning is used to process rotating parts. The parts are clamped on the spindle of the machine tool by a three-jaw chuck and rotate at high speed. Then, the turning tool moves according to the generatrix of the revolving body to cut out the product shape. Lathe can also process inner holes, threads, gnawing flowers, etc. The latter two are low-speed machining.
