The tools of Go: the board, the pieces, the clock. In a regular game, these three are indispensable, but the general . Only the board and pieces are needed for a game.
Go board: the shape of a square or slightly rectangular plan, now the board for the plane painted horizontal and vertical nineteen parallel lines, constituting three hundred and sixty-one intersections.
In order to facilitate the determination of the location of the points on the board, the use of coordinates for the numbering method, the horizontal line from top to bottom with the Chinese characters sequentially coded as the first ...... nineteen road, the vertical line from left to right with the Arabic numerals coded 1 ......19 road. Records, instructions or teaching are based on the order of the first vertical and then horizontal.
It should be noted that there are no numerical markings on the boards in general or in official tournaments, and the numbers in Diagram 1 are only indicated in the game for the purpose of illustrating the points of attack, or for the convenience of easy checking.
The board can be divided into nine sections, called the upper-left corner, lower-left corner, upper-right corner, lower-right corner, upper edge, lower edge, left edge, right edge, and midsection.
There are nine black dots on the board*** called "stars", and the black dot at the center of the board is called "tian yuan", which has no other special meaning.
The nine parts of the board are only roughly divided, and there are no strict boundaries, so they are only described here in general terms. Whether a piece is played on an astrological position or on a celestial element has no direct bearing on either the content or the rules of the game. The "constellations" and "tian yuan" are just markers for the chessboard.
Each side line of the board is called the first line (or one way), the line next to the first line is called the second line, and the line moving toward the center of the abdomen is called the third line (three ways), the fourth line (four ways), etc.
In general, the first line is called the "star" or the "heavenly element", which has no direct relation to the content and rules of the board.
Simple boards can be made of cardboard or plastic, but the regular boards used in tournaments are made of wood.
Go pieces: Go pieces are black and white in color and round in shape. The official game pieces are one hundred and eighty-one for black and one hundred and eighty for white. The intersection point of the board is 361, and the two colors of pieces should be added together to equal this number. The relationship between the board and the pieces is the closest, and this is a complex issue, so let's clarify the concept here first, and then explain it later.
There is no very precise number of pieces for general use. 160 to 170 pieces of each color is enough, and a little more or less is not important.
How to learn Go etiquette
Etiquette: Observance of etiquette is a sign of mutual respect, which improves the temperament and character of the game, and makes it go smoothly.
(1) Etiquette: Before starting a game, a younger player should clean the chessboard with a soft cloth towel to show the importance of cleanliness. The players should dress neatly and cleanly. For international games, suits are preferred.
(2) Manner: During the game, one should be seated with concentration, and pay full attention to the game to show that one is serious about the game. The movements of taking, holding, and lifting seeds should be in a moderate and elegant rhythm.
Showing the virtual hand: The virtual hand is an important etiquette for the game.
(1) Conceding defeat: If a player is in a bad position, and after repeated examinations, recognizes that he is unable to win, and voluntarily concedes defeat in the middle of the game and makes a false move, he should place two discs on the chessboard to indicate this. As the number of international games grows, it is common for people to be unable to communicate with each other, and it is becoming increasingly important to indicate a false move.
(2) Single false move: A false move in which a player has no right to fight for a point or has no point to fight for, and may be indicated by placing a disc outside the game or by other means of signaling.
Disrespect: In a game, it is disrespectful to interfere with the opponent's bad habits.
(1) Interference: When a player starts a game, he moves his disc on the chess board, obstructing the opponent's view. When the opponent is thinking, he or she grabs and copies the pieces in the pot, or knocks the pieces against the chess table, which destroys the peace and quiet and interferes with the opponent's concentration on thinking.
(2) Bad habits: One must not grab a handful of discs in advance, hold them in the palm of one's hand, and use the thumb to hold the discs one after another. Throwing a piece so far into the opponent's pot that it is thrown out of the pot is a rude gesture.

The etiquette of using the point system and measuring the pot.
(1) Checking: Before starting a game, you should check the number of pieces in the measuring cup, and if there are any missing pieces, you have to make up for them before playing the game.
(2) Placement of discs: In a game, there are no discs except for the live discs and dead discs on the scales, the leftover discs in the cans, and the discs in the disc-carrying apparatus.
(3) Collecting discs: After filling up the counting points, both sides should collect the discs in the cans, proving that the number of discs filled up when filling up the counting points is 180 each, and the number of winning and losing points can be confirmed. In the case of a game with a small margin of victory, the negative side may request a notary to supervise the collection of discs. If no notary is provided, the negative side has the right to collect both black and white discs, and the other side may not object to this.
(4) Filling in discs: When filling up the tally, each time a disc is filled in, the principle is one disc, and the maximum is two discs. If a piece is accidentally dropped on the chessboard, causing the piece to shift, it can only be retrieved with the agreement of the opponent that it matches the original shape. The original shape of the pieces cannot be moved at will.
