List which ethnic minorities in southwestern China have dwellings that are dry-fence buildings?
Dry-fence construction is a kind of building with an elevated lower part, popular in the minority areas in the south of China. Dry-fence construction can prevent moisture, heat and ventilation, and avoid insect and animal attack and flood impact. The structure of such buildings are mainly two kinds, one is pure wood structure, to the Dai in Xishuangbanna bamboo building is most typical. Bamboo buildings are generally built on flat land or gentle slopes, its plane is square, divided into two floors, the bottom floor of the hollow, more without walls, for raising livestock and stacking sundries; upstairs there are halls and bedrooms, the halls set up a fire pit for family members to burn cooking; outside the open front porch and the terrace, to increase the space for activities.
