What kind of literary tradition did The Book of Songs create in China?
As a whole, The Book of Songs is a vivid reflection of China's social life during the 500-year rise and fall of the Zhou Dynasty, including the ode of ancestors' pioneering work, the movement of offering sacrifices to ghosts and gods, the banquet and communication between nobles, and the resentment of uneven work and rest. It is a touching chapter reflecting labor, hunting, a lot of love, marriage and social customs.
The Inheritance History of The Book of Songs
It is said that there are as many as 3,000 poems handed down in the Spring and Autumn Period, and now only 3 1 1 are left, among which 6 poems have no poems. After Confucius compiled The Book of Songs, Xia Zi, one of Confucius' ten philosophers and seventy-two sages, was the earliest recorded inheritor. He has the deepest understanding of poetry, so he passed it on.
There were three poets in the early Han Dynasty, namely Shen Peigong of Lu, Gu Sheng of Qi and Han Ying of Yan. Qi's poems died in Wei, Lu's poems died in the Western Jin Dynasty, and Han's poems still spread in the Tang Dynasty, with only 10 volume left. The Book of Songs circulated today is a poem by Mao Gong.
