1 History of the development of Chinese medicine in Africa and the current situation

First, Chinese medicine has a long history of dissemination in Africa. Africa is the second largest continent in the world with a total population of about 1.1 billion. Historical research shows that Chinese medicine and African exchanges have a long history, the earliest can be traced back to the period of the Ming Dynasty Zheng He went to the West. However, the development of Chinese medicine in Africa is relatively backward compared to other regions, the number of clinics, the number of practitioners are relatively small, the management of Chinese medicine in African countries lacks a set of rules and regulations, medical education has not yet formed its own system, Chinese medicine practitioners are mostly trained by China and other Asian countries.

Fourth, Chinese medicine serves the African people and consolidates the traditional friendship between China and Africa. Malaria and AIDS are major political, social, economic and medical problems facing the entire African region, and helping African countries to solve the problems of anti-malaria and anti-AIDS is the most powerful assistance to the African people. Over the years, Chinese medicine has given full play to its unique role in the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases, and has helped African countries fight malaria and AIDS, thus winning for China the broadest popular base in African countries. During the 50 years of foreign medical aid work, some Chinese medicine practitioners were invited to stay behind and continue to engage in medical services after the end of the mission, and some of them have become the health care doctors of foreign dignitaries and acted as the unique messengers of China-Africa diplomacy.

2 Opportunities for the spread of Chinese medicine in Africa

First, the attention and support of the state is an important guarantee for the cooperation of Chinese medicine in China and Africa. In recent years, the central government has made a series of important arrangements for the work of Chinese medicine and vigorously supported and promoted the development of Chinese medicine. The State Council has promulgated the Opinions on Supporting and Promoting the Development of Chinese Medicine, which clearly defines the task of promoting the comprehensive development of Chinese medicine. The National Twelfth Five-Year Plan lists support for the development of Chinese medicine as a separate section, and as one of the six key tasks for improving the basic medical and healthcare system. Relevant departments of the State Council have strongly supported the work of Chinese medicine and introduced a series of policies and measures that are in line with the characteristics and development laws of Chinese medicine and conducive to bringing into full play its distinctive advantages. Foreign exchange and cooperation of Chinese medicine is an important part of the cause of Chinese medicine, the state's support for the development of Chinese medicine policy for the promotion of foreign exchange and cooperation of Chinese medicine has created a favorable policy environment.

Secondly, Chinese medicine's own characteristics and advantages have laid a solid foundation for Chinese medicine's exchanges and cooperation with Africa. In recent years, the development of traditional medicine represented by Chinese medicine has been vigorously advocated and respected by the World Health Organization. According to the World Health Organization, medicine in the 21st century will develop from disease medicine to health medicine, from treatment to prevention, from confrontation to holistic treatment, from improvement of foci to the ecological environment, from group treatment to individual treatment, and from group treatment to individual treatment. . improvement, from group treatment to individual treatment, from biological treatment to integrated treatment of body and mind, from emphasizing the role of the doctor to emphasizing the patient's self-care role, and from disease-centered to patient-centered. Under this trend, traditional Chinese medicine, represented by TCM, has responded to the new demands of the world medical market, demonstrated strong vitality and broad development prospects, and has been generally valued and supported by the international community, especially by African countries. Thirdly, the unique social development environment of African countries makes China-Africa cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine face a broad development space. Africa is one of the earliest continents where human beings reproduced, and in the process of survival, "local knowledge" including traditional medicine has been formed and passed down from generation to generation, which has profoundly influenced people's way of life. This factor makes the acceptance of Chinese medicine in African countries higher, so Chinese medicine in Africa has more space for development than in Western countries. In particular, most of the countries in Africa have a low economic level, and the high cost of modern medical treatment makes it difficult for many African people to afford, so the simple and inexpensive traditional medicine treatment has become the only choice for many people.

Fourth, Africa's rich natural resources provide important conditions for the sustainable development of Chinese medicine in China and Africa. Take South Africa as an example, as one of the richest countries in the world in terms of medicinal plant resources, South Africa has about 3,000 kinds of plants with medicinal value, and more than 130 kinds of them are widely used in the field of traditional medicine, which is the material basis for the continuation of the traditional medicine culture, and also provides a realistic choice for the people in Africa in the primary stage of economic development to treat diseases.

3 Strategies for the dissemination of Chinese medicine and culture in Africa

First, the establishment of Chinese medicine foreign aid centers. According to the foreign aid medical team, the people in the recipient countries not only pay attention to acupuncture, but also have an increasing demand for Chinese medicine treatment. It is recommended to set up a Chinese medicine foreign aid medical team to increase the number of Chinese medicine practitioners and improve the utilization rate of Chinese herbal medicines, so as to promote more Chinese medicine products to Africa. At the same time, it is recommended to establish Chinese medicine centers in Kenya and Nigeria in Africa to provide local community residents with comprehensive Chinese medicine services such as Chinese medicine, acupuncture, tuina, health care, etc. or to provide anti-AIDS, anti-malaria and other specialized medical services for the different conditions of each country.

Second, the development of a specialized national strategy for China-Africa cooperation in Chinese medicine. In view of the important position of Africa in China's diplomatic and economic strategies, it is recommended that the national level formulate a strategy for China-Africa cooperation in Chinese medicine as soon as possible from the perspective of the overall national strategy, and continue to increase support for the existing key projects.

Third, the needs of African countries as a guide, step by step implementation, first in Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Madagascar and other countries that have been interested in promoting the compound artemisinin malaria technology program, select the research area, research and summarize the characteristics of their own rapid control and elimination of malaria model, from the national foreign aid funds listed in the support; the establishment of the China-Africa malaria prevention and control research center, the construction of a national malaria prevention and control center, and the establishment of the China-Africa malaria prevention and control center.
