North Korea's musical instruments
Jia yeqin
North Korea's plucked instruments are said to have been made by Zheng of China in the 6th century, imitating the North Koreans. The piano is like A Zheng, and the rectangular speaker is made of paulownia. There are twelve or thirteen strings on the panel, and the strings are supported by columns. The player sits on the floor, with one end of the piano on the ground and the other end on his knees, and plays the strings with his right hand.
