At the end of this year, hearts are very popular, because at the end of this year, Chaoshan area needs to worship gods and ancestors to pray for health and wealth next year.

The inner heart is called the inner heart. As the name implies, its appearance is red. Then why is it red? It is because Chaoshan people think that red symbolizes good luck and good omen, and the red peach cake needs fermentation in the production process, which also symbolizes the beautiful meaning of "hair".

In the process of making a heart, we need a very important tool, that is, the impression. The traditional impression is an embryo made of wood, and then some exquisite patterns will be carved on the embryo, usually some beautiful symbols of words or patterns, such as auspiciousness and flowers and plants, which are the characteristics of Chaoshan.

Practice of hearts:

Stuffing: Steamed glutinous rice in an electric cooker, cut into wet diced mushrooms, peeled peanuts and fried, chopped raw garlic, fried in an oil pan, and mixed with spiced powder for stuffing.

Embryo:

Pour sticky rice noodles into a bowl, add boiling water, add a little red pollen (actually a pigment, we also call it "Redmi" and "black ash"), and then knead until the dough is smooth.

Grab a small dough, knead it into a bowl, add a proper amount of glutinous rice, close the embryo, put it into a heart-shaped mold, flatten it, invert it, and take out the heart shape.

Then take out the steamer, spread a steamer cloth on the bottom of the steamer, put red hearts with gaps in the middle, and steam for 15 minutes.

Steamed hearts can be eaten directly or fried to golden crisp. The stuffing in the heart can be glutinous rice, leeks and peanuts.
