Why can't the air conditioner in the car use electricity like the air conditioner at home?
The car air conditioner uses the power of the engine.
Household air conditioners are driven by electricity, but from the point of view of preparing independent circuits when installing, they will consume a lot of electricity. This is because the compressor responsible for compressing refrigerant must be operated vigorously. The air conditioner takes the compressor as the center, and produces refrigeration and heating effects while repeatedly compressing evaporated gas as refrigerant.
Car air conditioner only has refrigeration function, but this system is no different from home system. Therefore, it is necessary to rotate the compressor with great force. Electricity is also used in cars, but for cars with gasoline and diesel engines, it is usually a weak current of 12V (trucks and other large cars can also use 24V), which is used when all electronic components and engines are started.
Cars can't provide the voltage to continuously rotate the compressor, so the engine that drives heavy-duty cars at high speed with high power is also used as the power to rotate the compressor.
Working principle of automobile air conditioner
The working principle of automobile air conditioner is very simple. The rotation of the engine is transmitted to the compressor through the air conditioning belt, resulting in a rotating force. Only by using this system can the air conditioner of the car work. However, the engine will be loaded accordingly. In other words, if the air conditioner is turned on, the power of the engine must be increased accordingly. Therefore, more fuel is needed and fuel consumption increases.
Using air conditioners will increase fuel consumption by more than 10%.
If the normal driving speed is 15 km/L, the car is driving 150 km, and if the air conditioner is not turned on, it is at 150 km/L+05.
Kilometers will consume 10 liter of fuel. If the air conditioner is turned on, it will be lower than this 10%, so the distance per liter is 13.5km (15km x
0.9)。 Then, 150 km ÷ 13.5 km needs about 1 1 liter of fuel, which is more 1 liter.
Without air conditioning:1fuel at 50km 10L.
When using air conditioner: 150 km 1 1 liter of fuel.
Skills of using air conditioner while increasing fuel consumption
The higher the indoor temperature, the more hot air the compressor needs to absorb and cool. On the contrary, if the air is already cold, the load of the compressor can be reduced. The key to improve fuel efficiency is to master "external air introduction mode" and "internal air circulation mode".
The "external air introduction mode" absorbs the air outside the car, which can be said to be a "ventilation" mode. "Internal air circulation mode" is a mode in which the temperature inside the car is adjusted only by the air inside the car, and at the same time, the entry of external air is minimized.
That is to say, in hot summer, it can be set to "internal air circulation mode" to refrigerate the interior of the carriage, so as to avoid inhaling external hot air, and the air can be circulated to prevent the working pressure of the air conditioner from increasing. If the temperature inside the car is cold enough, you can keep cool by turning off the air conditioner and circulating the cold air inside the car.
Skills of using air conditioning in summer
In summer, turn on the air conditioner compressor as soon as you get on the bus and start working. Generally, it is adjusted to the maximum, but being at the maximum power does not mean that the fuel consumption will be more. It is the blower (blower) that exerts the maximum power, not the compressor.
In addition, if the air conditioner is turned on when the temperature inside the car is high, it will take a lot of time to cool down. Especially when parking, the temperature inside the car rises, which is usually higher than the outdoor temperature due to the greenhouse effect.
In addition, if the doors and windows are opened to let the air circulate before starting the engine, the temperature inside the car can be reduced, thus shortening the working time of the air conditioner. If the air conditioner has automatic mode, it will automatically turn on/off the air conditioner at the optimal temperature.
The fuel consumption of air conditioners in hybrid electric vehicles is lower.
In the case of hybrid vehicles, the air conditioner is powered by high-voltage batteries, so the direct impact on fuel efficiency is smaller than that of gasoline vehicles. But there are advantages and disadvantages. When using warm air, the fuel consumption increase is higher than that of gasoline vehicles. The gasoline vehicle is heated by the residual heat of the engine, while when the hybrid vehicle is running, the gasoline engine stops running and runs on the battery. There is no waste heat that can be used for heating like a gasoline car, so we have to consume electricity to generate heat.
If the voltage generated by the automobile generator can drive the air conditioner, it is indeed a great invention, which can not only reduce the exhaust emission, but also save more electricity for the household air conditioner. But there seems to be nothing impossible about technology, and maybe it will appear in the future.
