What are the sense strand and information strand of DNA?

When DNA transcribes RNA, only one strand can be replicated, and the other cannot synthesize RNA. Therefore, some people say that the strand that can synthesize RNA has biological significance as the intentional strand, and the other is the anti-sense strand.

However, it is also said that the sequence of the chain that cannot synthesize RNA is the same as the genetic information carried by the synthesized RNA. In the early days of studying genetic information in biology, RNA was studied, so it is said that the bases on the chain of RNA cannot be synthesized.

Sequence is the real genetic information and has biological genetic significance, so it is also called an intentional chain.

The above two descriptions can be found in different books and even monographs on molecular biology and molecular genetics. Therefore, there is no consensus on this concept in the biological community today, and it is still under debate.

I personally think that it is best not to mention this in middle school biology teaching, otherwise students will not understand it if it is taught too much, and it is easy to mislead students in their future learning, so it is better not to mention it.
