Video Lessons Taught by Tony Bozan, Inventor of Know Your Mind Mapping
There are 16 lectures in this video set, with an additional 2 lectures in color. The following part of the 16 lectures highlights mind mapping content to share as follows:
The 16 lectures cover five aspects: ① the origin of mind mapping; ② the human brain; ③ the game in the lecture; ④ the role of the guide map & rules; ⑤ the application of mind mapping.
From the above figure, the origin of the mind map, four short stories lead to the following four questions:
(1) 7-year-old Tony does not like to do homework, why?
(2) Children's favorite thing in school is the sound of the bell, why?
(3) Traditional notes, monotonous in color (black/blue/gray) and linear in form, why?
(4) In a college library, about half the people are sleeping instead of reading, why?
Some of the problems such as the above are due to the fact that students study, take notes, and read books in a single color that tends to make the brain bored, lose enthusiasm, and even shut down; and linear notes limit the brain.
So, what is our human brain like, what are the characteristics, and what is the highest level of mind mapping? Let's come together to understand:
Brain-related content, mainly referred to the composition of the brain, the type of information processed, the potential of the brain, the highest level of thinking these four aspects:
(1) brain composition : contains the top of the left brain and the right brain, as well as the brain stem, lobes and so on.
(2) Information processing: the brain processes information including numbers, images, logic, rhythm, color and so on.
(3) Brain Potential : Imagination and creativity are both manifestations of the brain's potential.
An example of imagination is "daydreaming". If the daydream is unfocused, it is just a distraction; if the dream in the daydream is turned into a goal and action, it is a good daydream.
Creativity is a synthesis of the left and right brains. When we try to think from multiple perspectives, we get new ideas. For example, do you get angry when you come across a dangerous situation that is speeding down the road and almost hits you? But would you still be angry if you knew the driver was a mom rushing to save her child? How would you still feel if you knew the driver was stealing a carload of gold? ......
(4) The highest level of thinking : Metaphors are the highest level of thinking. Metaphors can establish new and unusual links between things (such as thing a and thing b), allowing thinking to reach new heights. There is a metaphor for metaphors: they are the honey of thinking.
For example, say you want to write a poem about your mother. This can be done as follows:
Step 1: Mini-Guide. Choose a random thing, such as a "rock". Take "mother" and "stone" as the central theme, spread out 10-20 branches, and write down the relevant keywords.
Step 2: Finding Links. Look for creative links between the above keywords. For example, "warmth" and "gems".
Step 3: Verse creation. For example, "My mom is like a warm gem." ......
There are many games in the course. The following 4 games are very impressive.
These four games are "Happiness" Association, "Elephant" Imagination, Linking Exercise, and Guided Drawing Creation:
(1) "Happiness" Association: It means to take "Happiness" as the main theme. "Happiness" as the center of the theme word association.
The first step, the first level of dispersion. As shown in the figure below:
The second step, continue to spread . Add branches, as shown in the following figure:
Third step, add illustrations . You can add illustrations on top of the above. Below is an illustration of another example without keywords:
(2) "Elephant" imagination: when we hear the word "elephant", what comes to mind? Please think about it: do you instantly think of the word itself, or an image? 99% of people think of an image.
This game shows that the first language of human beings is not English, Chinese, or any other language, but imagination, association, and localized memory. In layman's terms, it's images.
(3) Linking exercise: Poetry writing is a good linking exercise. For example, the poem "Mom" & "Jewel".
(4) Guide Map Creation: The theme is "About Me", which means creating a mind map with yourself as the central theme. Thinking from multiple perspectives, take a full "mega selfie" of yourself, using a telescope to think about the big picture (the main body of the outline) and a microscope to observe the details of the main points (the content of the branch).
Includes content on the role of mind maps and the rules for drawing them.
(1) The role of the guide map: the guide map can enhance multiple wisdom, stimulate multiple senses.
Multiple intelligence includes numerical power, language power, logic power, social power, moral power, spatial power, physical power, creativity and so on, as shown in the following figure:
Multiple senses, refers to five senses: sight, taste, smell, hearing, touch, as shown in the following figure:
(2) Drawing rules: The video mentions the very important rules of mind mapping, which include the use of the elements of the mind map and the overall rules of drawing the mind map. The video mentions some very important rules for mind mapping, including the use of mind map elements and the overall presentation.
Elements of a mind map such as: use of color, images, associations, organic lines. Color is easy to identify and distinguish, just like a colorful subway map. On the image, there is a famous saying "a picture is worth a thousand words". Associations can be made by connecting/linking keywords. The lines are required to be organic curves from thick to thin, and the keywords are required to follow the principle of "one line, one word".
The overall presentation requires that the whole mind map is radial, the overall spatial layout is reasonable.
This part is an example of application. Examples of mind mapping in decision-making, reading, speaking, writing and other aspects of the application.
From the above chart, there are three stages:
Stage 1: Idea generation. For example, the topic is "buying a house". For the "wants", "don't want", "should do", "shouldn't do" are rapid-fire dispersion.
Stage 2: Super Logic. Carefully review the four mini-charts of the rapid-fire dispersion to see the big picture and scrutinize the key details.
Stage 3: Incubation . Put decision-making aside for a while, relax and be alone, brewing ideas. Idea production, more in the relaxation of solitude, such as:
① Preparation stage : you can refer to the book cover, drawing the central image.
② Overview : A quick glance (≤ 5 minutes) at the table of contents, to set the basic concepts of classification (BOIs), that is, which are ready to start from the big aspects. Spend another 5-10 minutes drawing out the backbone and adding the appropriate keywords.
③ Preview (Preview): quickly flip through the book, only the main content (such as the beginning and end of the chapter, the big picture, the important information highlighted, etc.), and add key branches, add keywords, with illustrations where necessary. This process is limited to 10 minutes.
④ In-View :Read the whole book again, focusing on more information and points of doubt. Add branches of points, add keywords, and add illustrations where necessary, as well as connections between points. This process takes 5 to 10 minutes.
⑤ Review : You can close your eyes and review the content of the guide. You can logically reconstruct, add connections, details. Of course, if necessary, you can also turn the book. If you want to form a long-term memory, you can repeat it 5 times according to the memory rule.
⑥ Share & application : The learning in the book (mind map notes), internalized in the heart. Share and exchange. Apply it in practice to deepen your understanding.
As shown above, first of all, you can list the outline of the mind map. In general, a 30-minute speech, there are 4 to 5 trunks is enough, plus key words and images. For the whole speech outline, a total of about 30 branches (meaning 30 keywords/illustrations) is enough.
The main role of the guide map outline, in preparation, is to help the speaker organize his thoughts. In the speech, it can serve to give yourself a hint of the main points, but also to show the mind map to the audience, so that everyone can easily understand.
As shown in the figure above, you can first use the mind map to think out of the box, listing the outline of the guide map (document skeleton). For example, on the theme of "brain & learning", the following aspects (memory, creativity, wisdom ......, etc.) can be developed:
Then, in accordance with the "general - sub - general " structure for article writing. Organize your language while writing by referring to the outline ideas. Divide the paragraphs as needed. Of course, start writing from the central theme. For example:
"The topic of this essay is the human brain, and its multiple cognitive skills.
The first cognitive skill I will discuss is memory , the second is creativity , the third is intelligence , ...... and the sixth is ......
memory . In this article, I will focus on the difference between the methods of memorization during learning and after learning. ............
Creativity . ......
Intelligence . ......
............
This paper illustrates that it has become increasingly obvious that the human brain has a wide range of cognitive skills. However, none of them are particularly well trained and should receive more attention in the educational process.
I sincerely suggest that in the future, schools should offer courses that teach students how to learn, and that the mind-mapping note-taking method, a language that is ***identical*** to humans, should be part of the basic curriculum of all educational institutions."
Thus an article is written.
Above is this video course focuses on mind mapping five points (① the origin of the mind map; ② the human brain; ③ the game in the lecture; ④ the role of the guide map & rules; ⑤ the application of the mind map) to share.
The main purpose of sharing is to attract jade. The main points of the course mind map, there is no standard answer, due to the actual demand, understanding of different and see the wisdom, welcome everyone to communicate, criticize and correct! #
