Why Turkey's relations with the US are so bad

The reasons for Turkey's poor relations with the United States:

First, the coup factor. In fact, the conflict between the two countries, the United States and Turkey, revealed itself in 2016. In July of that year, a military coup against President Erdogan in Turkey killed 250 people. Erdogan escaped with his life thanks to intelligence revealed by Russia. As a result relations between Turkey and Russia heated up quickly after the coup.

The Turkish government then began to accuse the United States of harboring Gülen, the coup's mastermind, and asked the U.S. to extradite the culprits, but the U.S. ignored Erdo?an's request, and relations between the two countries plunged to a low point.

Secondly, Turkey's Ottoman dream is in conflict with the U.S. strategy in the Middle East. It is well known that Iran likes to export revolutions in the Middle East to expand its regional influence.

Can be little known is that Erdogan has always had a dream of restoring the Ottoman Empire, to know the Ottoman Empire, but across Asia, Africa and Europe, a huge empire, in order to realize their so-called dream Erdogan over the years to establish a military base across the Middle East, North Africa to build military bases.

How Turkey responded to this:

In 2015, Turkey established the Tariq Ibn Ziyad military base in Qatar, and in 2020 established the Khalid Ibn Al-Walid base, which is Turkey's largest military base in the Middle East, and is even bigger than the Americans' base in Qatar!

So both Saudi Arabia and the US have strongly urged Turkey to close its military base in Qatar, but Erdogan has been turning a deaf ear. Because of Turkey's geopolitical advantage across Europe and Asia, the United States has long valued Turkey as a Middle East ally, and wants Turkey to act as a vanguard to contain the Soviet Union (Russia), and Iranian expansion in the Middle East.

Who knows, Turkey and Russia eyebrow to eyebrow, in 2019, Turkey despite repeated U.S. warnings, still buy Russia's S400 defense and control system, but also let the Americans down to punish Turkey.

The F35, as the world's first and only five-generation aircraft on sale, is also a military sales trump card in the hands of the Americans, on Turkey, which has always been centrifugal with itself, the Americans naturally want to take the opportunity to withhold.
