Jiuquan City, formerly known as Suzhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province, an important node city and a provincial sub-central city in Gansu section of the Silk Road Economic Belt approved by the Gansu Provincial People's Government.

Jiuquan City is located in the northwest of China, the northwest of Gansu Province and the west end of Hexi Corridor. It is connected with Zhangye City and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in Gansu Province in the east, Qinghai Province in the south, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the west and Mongolia in the north. Since ancient times, it has been a traffic fortress leading to Xinjiang and the western regions.

Hexi Baojuan is mainly spread in Hexi Corridor of Gansu Province. Hexi Baojuan is a kind of popular literature sung by the people on the basis of Dunhuang Bianwen, popular words in Tang Dynasty and Confucian classics in Song Dynasty.

Bianwen, folk stories and Buddhist scriptures mainly absorb and follow the structure of Dunhuang Buddhist scriptures, while Liangzhou Baojuan is further nationalized and localized, making it a form of China folk singing literature. Hexi baojuan matured and prevailed during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China, and gradually fell silent and began to decline during the Cultural Revolution.

Hexi baojuan has four types: Buddhism, historical stories, myths and legends, and fables. Its content reflects people's social life, and its theme mostly condemns disobedience and cruelty, and promotes filial piety and good deeds.

Suzhou District, Gansu Province, once known as Jiuquan County in history, has a history of more than 2,000 years since the establishment of the county in the Western Han Dynasty.
