Liang Zhu Music Appreciation

"Liang Zhu" Music Appreciation Since we took this music appreciation class, I have learned a lot, know a lot of knowledge about music, appreciate a lot of musical works, which gives me the deepest impression or our most familiar Chinese love story - Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai love legend.

The Violin Concerto is the work of Chen Gang and He Zhanhao when they were students at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. It was composed in the winter of 1958 and premiered in Shanghai in May of the following year to great acclaim, with Yu Li Na as the violin soloist in the premiere. The subject matter is a well-known folk tale, using the tunes of Yueju Opera as the material, synthesizing symphonic and Chinese folk opera music expression methods, carefully conceived and laid out in accordance with the plot development, adopting the sonata structure, with a single music with a sub-title. The main content of the piece is "Kusakiao", "Yingtai's Resistance to Marriage", and "Butterfly in front of the Grave".

The whole piece is about twenty-six minutes long, with the first five minutes recounting the theme of Liang Zhu's love, followed by the happy school life, and then the eighteen farewells. From ten minutes into the second section, Zhu Yingtai went home to fight against marriage, and finally cried to the spirit. The second section is about the same length as the first, about eleven minutes. The final section is Butterfly, which is a recurrence of the theme.

The piece begins with a few plucked strings followed by a flute, as if in the clouds, which opens the piece, as if overlooking the earth from the sky, and the clouds are lifted, and the scene of the characters slowly becomes clearer from the blurring of the clouds. First the violin plays the theme, two long and two short plus a closing phrase, long, long and far away, as if Zhu Yingtai is telling the story of the old days beside her. Then the theme is repeated once in the bass, back to earth and down to earth.

The orchestra plays the theme in general, and the scene is all understood. The cello, representing Liang Shanbo, also appears, and the two are in love. The cello plays the theme in harmony, and gradually the violin dominates the melody and introduces the orchestra to emphasize it once more. When the music stops, the woodwinds take over the melody and slowly fall. The violin solo has a deep, soothing and introspective tone, signifying Zhu Yingtai's uncertainty about the future, but still firmly believing in herself. Be brave and love! The mood is light, the flute is loud and clear, and the cello dances, like a spring trip between two people on a sunny March day. The violin shows its skill, and it's magnificent.

There will always be a parting of the ways, and after the happy mood, there will be a parting of the ways. Variations on the theme will be played slowly, like the steps that can not be taken, but ultimately had to leave. Cello duet, close together hard to part. At the end of this section, the strings play a weeping theme for the first time, predicting a tragic end, which constitutes the whole piece's presentation of "Love".

The second development section has three subsections: strong, weak and strong, or fast, slow and fast. The beginning of the orchestral sound, like a big wave, represents the opposition of the father of the blessing, and the downward movement of several bars in succession seems to say: No. No! No way! The violin violently fights against it, and the conflict between the two gradually rises, and finally the whole ensemble plays the theme of Liang Zhu Zhu to indicate that the love affair is exposed, and a wave of incoming waves will eventually drown out this theme.

Lou Tai will be violin euphemistically tell love, cello strumming to listen. The cello is the cello's turn to express its love, and the violin is the violin's turn to harmonize. Suddenly, the music takes a turn for the worse, using the "slow and tight" technique of the hooting boards in Vietnamese opera, as Liang Shanbo falls ill and dies of excessive grief and despair.

When Zhu Yingtai was on her way to be married, she stopped at Liang Shanbo's grave to cry, and the violin cried out in a mournful tone: "Liang, ah! Broken, broken mournful melody, there are cries, kneeling, which also has some memory fragments. Gradually tearful eyes opened, crying rested, the mind has been determined, in the sadness of the bass gong, plunged into the sudden burst of graves in the self-immolation, the music at the same time pushed to the highest climax.

The final part of the piece is the reappearance of "Butterfly". Under the light and airy strings, the main body of the love is reappeared, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai are transformed into a pair of butterflies from the grave, and they will never be separated from one another as they fly freely among the flowers for their pleasure.

The rainbow blooms

The butterflies among the flowers become pairs

The thousands of years can not be separated

Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai

(2), the development of the Department

This part of the description of the "resistance to marriage", "Terrace meeting", "crying, accusation, throwing the grave" of the three plots

1. p> 1. "Resistance to Marriage":

The brass played the theme of the ferocity and cruelty of the feudal forces with a grim rhythm and eerie tones; the solo violin stated Yingtai's grief and fear with the rhythm of a loose plate, and the orchestra's strong allegro set off the theme of the solo violin's resolute opposition to the feudal forces. These two themes gradually intensify to form the resentful scene of Yingtai's resistance to marriage. Although the full orchestra, had given people a kind of happy life of yearning and longing, but the brass as the representative of the feudal forces gave a major pressure.

2. "Terrace will":

Another slow plate, large, violin's answer, lingering and miserable, such as the tone of the sobbing, the Liangzhu will meet on the terrace of the mixed feelings of the emotions expressed to the fullest.

The violin solo and the orchestra's fast tempo alternated with the Peking Opera's guiding plate and the Yue Opera's slow and tight singing technique, which profoundly demonstrated Yingtai's tearful complaint against feudalism in front of the grave. In the end, the gongs and cymbals sound, Yingtai throws herself into the grave, and the piece reaches its climax.

(3) Repetition

This part mainly describes the "Butterfly". The flute plays a soft and colorful melody, and the harp's glissando mirrors each other, leading people to a mythical fairyland. The solo violin plays the love theme again, showing Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai dying under the oppression of the feudal forces, turning into a pair of butterflies fluttering joyfully and freely in the flowers.
