What is the structure of the chimney?

Chimneys have different names because of the different building materials used in the design. Commonly used materials are brick, stone and reinforced concrete. Chimneys built on roofs or at lower heights can also be rolled into cylinders with steel plates, butted with flanges, riveted or welded. Masonry chimney, its structure can be divided into four parts: foundation, cylinder, lining, insulation layer and ancillary facilities. The construction procedure of its foundation is usually: positioning and setting out, digging, pouring cushion concrete, laying and binding steel bars, pouring foundation concrete, and paying attention to burying the embedded parts at the central point to control the position of the chimney, and then covering the foundation. Internal and external scaffolding is often used in the masonry of its cylinder, and horizontal and vertical transportation lines are organized to supply construction materials and water supply. During construction, the centripetal inclination of the outer surface should be controlled according to the design requirements (based on the center point, generally 2%-2.5%). The function of lining and insulation layer is to reduce the temperature stress of cylinder wall and prevent gas corrosion, and its laying should be carried out in sections with the increase of cylinder according to the performance of selected materials.
