Premier League (referred to as "Premier League") is the highest level professional football league under the English Football Association, formerly known as the English First Division. The Premier League is one of the "five major leagues in European football" and consists of 20 teams. The specific operation is the responsibility of the Super League. At the end of the season, the last three places in the standings fell into the English Football Champions League.
Premier League has always been regarded as one of the best leagues in the world, with fast pace, fierce competition and many strong teams. It is the most successful commercial league and the highest-paid football league in the world. Since the reorganization of 1992/93 season, seven teams have won the Premier League championship: Manchester United 13 times; Manchester City 7 times; Chelsea 5 times; Arsenal 3 times; Liverpool 1 time; Blackburn 1 time; Leicester city 1 time.
Current competition system
The Premier League adopts the double-cycle system of home and away games, with each team playing twice, and the host and guest playing once. Starting from the season of 1995/96, the number of participating teams has been reduced from 22 to 20, with each team playing 38 games, home and away 19.
The winner of each game can get 3 points, the draw can get 1 point, and the loser can get 0 points, arranged according to the points obtained by each team in the league. After completing all the games, the team with the highest total score can win the league championship, while the three teams with the lowest total score will be relegated to the championship.
If the teams have the same points at the end of the league, they should be ranked in the following order:
1, compare the team's league goal difference;
2. Compare the league goals of each team.
If none of the above methods can determine the team ranking, and it involves league champions and relegation places, the two teams will play a play-off in a neutral position to decide the outcome, and the others will be equally divided according to the ranking of the relevant teams.
