Navy Day generally refers to China Navy Army Day. 1989 In March, the Central Military Commission approved the establishment of the People's Navy on April 23, 1949. Since then, April 23rd every year has been designated as the PLA Navy Army Day.

The navy is an ancient arms, and the eastern Mediterranean is the birthplace of the world navy. The history of the navy can be traced back to 2000 BC. At that time, warships were paddle boats, and collision was the basic combat method. By the middle of17th century, the sailboat fleet gradually replaced the paddle fleet, and Britain, France, Spain and the Netherlands began to establish a standing navy.

The PLA navy is mainly composed of naval vessels and naval aviation. Its main task is to defend the enemy's invasion from the sea independently or in cooperation with the army and air force, defend the sovereignty of territorial waters and safeguard maritime rights and interests. Its combat troops-in addition to the naval headquarters, are distributed in the three fleets of the North Sea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea. The navy is the main force in maritime operations, with surface, underwater and air combat capabilities.

Under the correct leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, the People's Navy has continued to grow and develop. Five major arms systems, namely, naval surface warship unit, naval submarine unit, naval aviation unit, naval coastal defense unit and marine corps, have been established one after another.

Naval surface ships include destroyers, frigates, missile boats, torpedo boats and various service ships. The naval submarine force includes conventional power submarines and nuclear submarines. Naval air force, as one of the key development forces, basically formed a sea-air combat defense system based on shore-based air force by the end of 1955.

The naval coastal defense force is an arm deployed in important coastal areas to participate in coastal defense operations. The Marine Corps is an arm that undertakes landing operations and becomes the fifth arm of the Navy.

In addition, the navy has successively set up various professional service units, such as observation, reconnaissance, communication, engineering, navigation support, hydrometeorology, risk prevention and lifesaving, chemical defense, logistics supply and equipment repair, with the task of ensuring the smooth operation of naval forces.
