A wedding is a ceremony in which two people get together through marriage or a similar system. The wedding traditions and customs are quite different among cultures, races, religions, countries and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies include the exchange of wedding vows, the giving of gifts (offerings, rings, symbolic items, flowers, money), and the public announcement of marriage by authoritative figures or leaders. People usually wear special wedding dresses, and sometimes a wedding reception will be held after the wedding. Music, poetry, prayer or reading scriptures or literary works can also be selectively integrated into the ceremony.
