What is the format of calligraphy works?
1. nave
The ancient people called the calligraphy and painting hanging on the wall in the middle of the living room nave. Generally, they are written in vertical lines, and most of them only write a single big character like Fushou, and then they are accompanied by couplets related to the written words.
2. Banner
Banner can be said to be the most practical format in home decoration now. It can be big or small, and it doesn't take up space when hanging high. The most common formats are four-foot whole and four-foot split. Four-foot folio is mainly composed of four-character works, while four-foot whole works are mainly composed of long poems such as Song Ci. Other sizes are extremely rare.
3. Couplets
are commonly called couplets, which generally have upper and lower couplets, and the right is upper and left is lower. Compared with banners, their size can be the same, and they can be larger or smaller. Couplets have very strict requirements when writing, including five words and seven words, but in fact, there can be only three words as few as possible, and hundreds of words as many as possible. If there is a cross, it is best to write them in branches.
4. The plaque
is the door of the building. In ancient times, it was generally necessary to write a horizontal scroll and frame it and hang it on the door. Generally, only wealthy families or shops would hang plaques on the building, and there would be various decorations on its border. Flowers, dragons and phoenixes and other patterns are very common.
5. The fan
has two shapes: a round fan and a folding fan, and there are three ways to write. One is to write only two words per line, the other is to write horizontally, only two to four words, and the other is to write sequentially from the top, while the lower part is interlaced, thus creating a staggered form.
