What is the real integrity

I, what is integrity

In late October 2001, the central government issued the "Citizen Moral Construction Implementation Program", vigorously advocating the basic moral code of twenty words: "patriotism and law-abiding, courtesy and honesty, unity and friendliness, diligence, thrift and self-improvement, dedication and devotion". As a whole, this twenty-word basic moral code not only inherits and absorbs all the excellent moral achievements of the past and present, but also embodies the objective requirements of interpersonal relations in the new socialist period, reflects the inevitable changes in the development of moral norms, and carries forward the spirit of the times of the Chinese nation. In the process of promoting the construction of the socialist market economy in China, the "clear manners and honesty" is particularly striking.

Honesty and trust is the Chinese nation has always praised the virtues. What is honesty? From the moral category, honesty is to treat people sincerely, honestly, credibility, words must be done, deeds must be fruitful, a word of nine ding Ding, a promise of a thousand pieces of gold. In the "Shuowen Jiezi" in the explanation is: "honesty, faith also", "letter, sincere also". It can be seen that the original meaning of integrity is to be honest, sincere, trustworthy, trustworthy, against concealment and fraud, against shoddy counterfeiting, against falsehoods.

(a) Integrity is the fulcrum of morality to support society

Integrity is one of the important elements of China's traditional moral culture, "Integrity, the world's knot," that is to say, speaking in good faith, is the world's key to the code of conduct. In China's traditional Confucian ethics, integrity is regarded as a condition of governance and must comply with the important moral norms. Ancient sages and philosophers have many elaborations on integrity. For example: Confucius's "faith is a person's appointment" "since ancient times there is death, the people do not have faith can not stand" "people do not have faith, I do not know what it can be" "the people in good faith and stand"; Mencius on integrity "Mengzi on integrity "to the sincere and immovable, not yet there is; not sincere, there is no one who can move"; Xunzi believes that "the heart is not good at sincerity"; Mozi said that "the will is not strong wisdom can not reach, the words do not believe that the action is not fruitful". The letter of the line is not fruitful"; Laozi integrity as an important criterion of life behavior: "light promises will be less trustworthy, more easy will be more difficult"; Zhuangzi is also very important integrity: "true, sincerity of the most also. If you are not sincere, you can't move people". Zhuangzi the "true" as the sincerity of the ultimate, not fine not sincere, can not move people, which raises the integrity to a new realm; Han Fei Zi that "trickery is not as good as honesty". In short, the ancient sages and philosophers celebrated integrity as a noble virtue, vividly showing the value and status of integrity in the minds of Chinese people. The reason why people have attached so much importance to the principle of integrity from ancient times to the present is that both honesty and credit are the basic ethical norms to be followed by people in their relationships with each other, without which there can be no morality. So honesty is the fulcrum of morality that supports society.

(2) Integrity is the morality of legal norms

The principle of integrity gradually rises as a legal principle from Roman law, and was later inherited and developed by the important civil law in the history of the legal system, such as the French civil law, the German civil law, the Swiss civil law, etc., for example, the second article in the General Principles of the Swiss Civil Code stipulates that: "Anyone who is honestly exercising their rights and fulfill their obligations."

Honesty and trust is also an important basic principle of China's current laws, which is clearly stipulated in the General Principles of Civil Law, Contract Law, and Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law. Because of its wide scope of application, other legal principles have a guiding and overarching role, so also known as the "imperial rules", see "honesty and credit" is not a general moral code. In the honesty and credit become legal norms, violation of which will be subject to a legal responsibility or adverse legal consequences, such legal consequences can be property, can also be personal; can be civil, administrative, and even penalties. Therefore, honesty and credit is again the fulcrum of the law that supports society, and is the morality of legal norms.

(C) honesty is the plan of governance

Honesty in politics, you can win the trust of the people, so that the political and human harmony. If the words are not trustworthy, cover-up, falsehoods, there is no way to stabilize society. Ancient "the crime of deceiving the king", "deceiving the king" is not only an offense to dignity, and will mislead the decision-making, the country and the people. "Deceiving the people" is also not acceptable, which is why it is said that "water can carry a boat and it can also capsize a boat". In ancient China, there is a good story of Shang Yang standing on a tree to establish trust, and there is also a beacon fire to play the vassals who do not speak honestly and suffer the consequences. Ancient Chinese thinkers even took "integrity" as one of the main means of ruling the world. Wei Zheng in the Tang Dynasty, integrity is said to be "the outline of the country", visible "integrity" of the important.

Currently, the party and the state put forward the "rule of the country by virtue", is the embodiment of the integrity of the government, but also to our country's excellent political thought of the inheritance and carry forward. The implementation of the "rule by virtue", the implementation of the "Outline for the Implementation of Civic Moral Construction", and the promotion of the spiritual quality of honesty and trustworthiness in the whole society is the inheritance of the fine tradition, but also the requirements of the times.

(D) honesty is the foundation of the industry

Integrity is the way for people, is the foundation of the establishment, is the basis of mutual trust between people. Speak credibility, trustworthiness is a constraint on ourselves and requirements, but also outsiders to us a hope and requirement. If a practitioner fails to be honest and trustworthy, then the social organization or economic entity he represents will not be trusted by people, and will not be able to have economic interactions with the society, or will lack appeal and responsiveness to the society. Therefore, honesty and trustworthiness is not only a social virtue, but also a professional ethic that any practitioner should abide by.

Honesty and trustworthiness as a professional ethics, for an industry, its basic role is to establish a good reputation, to establish the industry image worthy of others' trust. It reflects the social recognition of the value of an industry in its past professional activities, thus affecting the status and role of the industry in future activities. "People without faith can not stand", for an industry, the same only trustworthy, moral character, in order to fundamentally do a good job of the industry brand, set up a good industry image.
