Abstract: With the country's increasing attention to education, the education system is constantly changing. As the basic stage of compulsory education, primary education has a very important influence on the ideological and moral cultivation and study habits of primary school students. Although the country attaches great importance to primary education, there are some problems in the implementation of specific policies and teaching process due to some factors. This paper mainly analyzes the problems existing in primary school education and teaching, and discusses its development direction on this basis.

Primary education is relatively basic and simple in content, but the purpose of primary education is not only to learn textbook knowledge, but also to pay more attention to the cultivation of students' study habits and ways of thinking. 1 the importance of reforming primary education and teaching
Primary education is in the primary stage of compulsory education, parents attach great importance to it, but there are also many problems that need to be solved as soon as possible, so it is very important and necessary to reform primary education and teaching. Following the traditional education mode, theoretical content education is more than practical education, and the mode of theoretical teaching before practical teaching is needed, which makes the proportion of theoretical teaching and practical teaching seriously unbalanced and makes education lose its original meaning. For the reform of primary education and teaching, we should improve the curriculum and class hours based on the coordinated proportion of theoretical teaching and practical teaching, and carry out the reform with the goal of cultivating talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and beauty. In this process, it is necessary to build a curriculum system with quality education as the core, that is, curriculum construction based on discipline construction, curriculum construction centered on teaching activities and the development of some potential activity courses.
2 problems in primary education and teaching
2. 1 In the process of education, the evaluation mechanism for students is too one-sided:
Influenced by the traditional educational concept, the existing evaluation and assessment mechanism for students is too one-sided [1], and students are only evaluated from their grades. At the same time, when evaluating students, teachers simply start from their academic performance, which leads to students with poor academic performance gradually losing their enthusiasm for learning, while students with good academic performance excessively pursue the glory brought by their achievements and neglect the cultivation of other abilities.
2.2 Teachers can not correctly treat their own management mistakes:
According to the survey, most students feel that the teacher is not sure about the classroom in class, pays too much attention to the explanation of textbook knowledge and ignores the communication with students, which makes students nervous in a class. 3.3 Pay attention to the cultivation of students' spiritual culture, improve teaching facilities and create a harmonious campus culture for students;
Due to the reform of economic system, spiritual and cultural education is gradually ignored in student education. Because today's primary school students are basically only children, influenced by various cultures, students' thoughts mature earlier and their thinking is more extreme, so teachers should strengthen the construction of students' spirit in the teaching process, improve teaching facilities according to the characteristics and needs of the subject, and make good use of teaching facilities in the teaching process, such as strengthening the construction of school libraries, or setting up special reading corners in classes to place some books or cartoons that are helpful to students' physical and mental development.
3.4 At the same time, pay attention to teachers' ideological and cultural construction and professional quality construction;
