The origin of Chinese farming civilization
The Origin of Chinese Farming CivilizationTracing the origin of Chinese farming culture, there is a saying that "men plowing and women weaving", which not only refers to the early laborers, but is also the basis for the formation of farming culture. As early as the Hemudu period, the fossilized grains unearthed indicate that "farming" arose from this (or earlier).
As a result, people's activities were centered on farming and weaving, and over time, the cultural connotations and extensions, the various forms of expression (such as language, drama, folk songs, customs, and various kinds of rituals, as mentioned above) and other types of culture related to agricultural production were formed over a long period of time.
Agriculture first emerged in the Central Plains. The farming culture of the Central Plains contains many characteristic farming techniques and scientific inventions.
Many agricultural tools have been unearthed from the remains of Peiligang culture, which provide physical evidence for the development of the early farming culture, especially the refined stone milling rod, which became the earliest grain processing tool found in China. As we all know, Fu Xi, the first of the three emperors, taught people to "make nets" and opened the era of fishing and hunting economy; Yandi, known as "Shennong's", taught people to sow and harvest, and created the era of agriculture.
Da Yu's use of diversionary methods to control water pushed forward the development of China's water conservancy, and contributed to the advancement of mathematics, surveying and mapping, transportation and other related technologies. During the Warring States period, the "Zheng Guo Canal," built under the auspices of Zheng Guo, a native of Henan Province, greatly improved agricultural production in the Guanzhong region.
With the integration of ethnic groups, especially the migration of people from the central plains to the south, advanced agricultural technologies and concepts were spread to the south, which contributed to the improvement of the level of agriculture in ancient China. It can be said that the origin and development of Chinese agriculture, the invention and creation of agricultural technology, and the system and concept of agriculture are all closely related to Henan.
Expanded Information:
p>Characteristics of the farming civilization:
Men farming and women weaving, small scale, simple division of labor, not used for commodity exchange. Agrarian civilization, bound by feudal ideology, closed to the world. Ancient China did not form a typical economic structure combining agriculture and animal husbandry. The late development of agrarian civilization increasingly limited the development of Chinese society. The relative maritime civilization is the main reason for the decline of the Qing Dynasty.
Between 10,000 and 8,000 years ago, China's early agriculture had already formed the northern dry farming represented by chestnut and the southern paddy farming represented by rice two systems, as well as with handicrafts, livestock breeding combined with the southern rice and northern chestnut pattern.
