The Origin of the May 4th Movement

1965438+On May 4, 2009, young students in Beijing held a massive demonstration to protest against the imperialist countries' support for Japan's invasion of China at the Paris Peace Conference, which eventually developed into an anti-imperialist and anti-feudal patriotic movement with the participation of the whole country.

Those who opposed China's moral ideology and culture promoted the New Culture Movement, and even put forward slogans such as "Down with Kongjiadian" and "Down with Chastity Archway". The May 4th Movement further promoted the development of anti-feudal thought, and formed a tit-for-tat situation with the retro trend of thought that praised China culture. The ideological origin of China's language policy mostly comes from the Westernization theory during the May 4th Movement.

Process:

In the second decade of the 20th century, with the further development of capitalism in China during the First World War, a large number of western scientific and democratic ideas were introduced.

Especially under the influence of the victory of the October Revolution in Russia and the spread of Marxist ideas, some awakened advanced intellectuals have generated new hopes for national liberation, which led to an anti-imperialist and anti-feudal ideological revolution and cultural enlightenment movement.
