What is Tang Hua's nickname?

Tang Hua's nicknames are "Sugar Shadow", "Sugar Cake" and "Zhuan Sugar", which are also commonly known as "Sugar Cake", "Sugar Man" or "Sugar Lamp Shadow".

Tang Hua, as its name implies, is a painting made of sugar, which is divided into a flat Tang Hua and a three-dimensional Tang Hua. It is also a kind of candy and painting, which is quite edible. It is a craft food widely circulated in Bashan and Shushui and deeply loved by the people. The most common "Tang Hua" is Tang Hua plane. In addition to plane painting, skilled artists will also splice plane "parts" on marble slabs to create three-dimensional paintings with different styles, like an ornament, which makes people laugh.

If you want to make a flower basket, first make a round sugar cake with syrup, and then pour a smaller circle. Using the difference between the cold and hot syrup twice, the bottom of the three-dimensional flower basket comes out. With the addition of beams and flowers, the whole flower basket is no longer a flat Tang Hua, but a three-dimensional, vivid and colorful Tang Hua.

The origin of Tang Hua

According to textual research, Tang Hua originated from "Prime Minister of Sugar" in Ming Dynasty. The Supplementary Collection by Jian Xuan, a novelist in the Qing Dynasty, records that every time Amin offered sacrifices to the gods, sugar was melted and various animals and figures were printed as sacrifices. The cast figure is "gorgeous in robes" and looks like a civilian military commander, so it is nicknamed "Sugar Prime Minister".

In the Qing Dynasty, Tang Hua became more popular, with more sophisticated production techniques and a wider range of subjects. Most of them are auspicious patterns loved by the public, such as dragons, phoenixes, fish and monkeys. Later, it gradually evolved into today's Tang Hua art.
