the multiplication of five tones in the study of musical temperament

The ancient five tones of Gong, Shang, Jiao, Zheng and Yu are similar to 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the modern musical notation. Later, two changes were added, namely, palace change and sign change. Palace change is similar to "7" in modern music notation, and sign change is similar to "4" in modern music notation. There is no sound equivalent to "4" in Chinese traditional music. Five tones plus two changes are called "seven tones" or "seven tones", thus forming a seven-tone scale: Gong (1), Quotient (2), Angle (3), Variation Sign (4), Sign (5), Feather (6) and Variation Palace (7).
