Yunnan Lacquerware
Yunnan lacquerware began in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and with the excavation of the Wushidao, the local lacquer culture gradually collided with that of the Central Plains. Nevertheless, Yunnan lacquer art also maintains its own unique style, which is more typical of Yunnan Yi lacquer painting techniques. The skin-fired lacquer gourd now kept in the Palace Museum in Beijing is a representative work of Yi lacquerware in the Qing Dynasty, and the red, yellow and black painted lacquerware of the Yi people is unique in Yi traditional culture, and it is an important component of the Yi artifact culture. Yunnan lacquerware has always been known for its simple and bright colors, and in modern times there have been many skilled old artists, the more famous one is Mr. Yan Xifan, who inherited the traditional Yunnan lacquerware on the basis of absorbing the strengths of other lacquerware and created a new variety of lacquer line carving combined with lacquer-painting techniques, and his works have been treasured by people from overseas.
