Ordos geographical location
Ordos is a city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, located in the west of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, bordering the Loess Plateau in the south and the yinshan mountains in the north. It is a plateau in itself, geographically called Ordos Plateau. The ownership of Ordos Plateau has always been controversial. Most people think that it belongs to the Inner Mongolia Plateau, and some people think that the Ordos Plateau is a part of the Loess Plateau, and the state has classified it as a part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau. Ordos is a typical loess landform with criss-crossing gullies and low vegetation coverage. There are two deserts, the Kubuqi Desert in the north and the Mu Us Desert in the south. Now, the two deserts tend to be connected, covering nearly 50% of the total area of Ordos City. Therefore, the natural environment in Ordos is relatively harsh, mainly taking water from the Yellow River, which flows through the territory for hundreds of kilometers. Agricultural production is concentrated in the area where the Yellow River flows and the Wuding River basin, and the precipitation is lower than the average precipitation in Inner Mongolia.
