How to store corn oil

Abstract: Corn oil is a common vegetable oil in life. It is delicious and nutritious. Has beauty beauty and arteriosclerosis preventing effects. Edible oil, like other foods, has a shelf life, so once corn oil expires, consumers are not advised to continue eating it. When storing corn oil, consumers should choose suitable storage containers to avoid direct sunlight and high temperature to ensure that corn oil does not deteriorate. Let's take a look at Bian Xiao. Can corn edible oil be eaten after it has expired?

Edible oil, like other foods, has a shelf life. Therefore, corn edible oil has expired, and consumers are not advised to continue to eat it. There are many factors that affect the shelf life of edible oil, the two most important ones are the type of oil and the storage environment. The chemical properties of corn oil are more stable than ordinary oil, and the shelf life is generally 540 days, which is not too short.

Corn oil with a short expiration date can't smell anything with the nose, but it may have been rancid. The expired corn oil will produce a toxin called aflatoxin b 1, which is one of the strong natural carcinogens and can't be smelled with the nose. Consumers should not worry too much if they accidentally eat expired corn oil. Although this substance is toxic, in most cases, the human body can be repaired.

How to store corn oil

1, storage container

Reasonable selection of corn oil storage containers, generally speaking, it is best to use glass or ceramic containers for storage, and the diameter of the container should be reduced as much as possible. When there is little oil, you can choose dark opaque glass bottles. After the oil is filled, you should seal the bottle mouth to isolate the oil from the air and prevent the corn oil from oxidation and deterioration. People are often used to filling corn oil in metal or plastic bottles (barrels) (so are shops), which is actually very unscientific, because metal molecules and plasticizers in plastics will accelerate the rancidity and deterioration of edible oil.

Step 2 avoid direct sunlight

Corn oil should be stored in a cool, dark, dry and low temperature place. Ultraviolet and infrared rays in sunlight can promote the oxidation of oils and fats, accelerate the formation of harmful substances, and produce aldehydes and acids harmful to human body, which may cause cancer.

Step 3 avoid high temperature

When corn oil is stored, it should be prevented from being stored at high temperature. The optimum temperature is 10℃ to 15℃, and generally should not exceed 25℃. Therefore, it should not be stored in summer, but should be used while purchasing, and fresh oil should be eaten often. In addition, it should be noted that water cannot be mixed into edible oil, otherwise it will be easy to emulsify and make the oil turbid. At ordinary times, hot oil can be added to the oil according to the ratio of 40∶ 1, which can absorb water. So buy corn oil in big stores and regular manufacturers, and don't buy inferior oil in the market on a whim.

4. Keep it sealed.

If corn oil is to be stored for a long time, it should be kept sealed. The use of sealed containers can avoid the infiltration of air, moisture and other substances, and avoid the oxidation of oil and its odor.

Step 5 add antioxidants

If you buy more corn oil and can't eat it all at once, you can choose a little antioxidant such as pepper, fennel, cinnamon, clove and vitamin C to add to the oil to delay or prevent the oxidative deterioration of corn oil. Except for colored small glass bottles, the storage period of other containers should be half a year, and the longest period should not exceed one year.
