What kind of country is Thailand?

Thailand is a multi-ethnic country with a long cultural history. Its music, drama and dance are closely related to its natural environment, social and humanistic environment, and are mostly influenced by Buddhism. The Thai government attaches great importance to protecting its national culture. King Bhumibol once said that "defending culture means defending the country", and Thai culture has an important influence on the stability and prosperity of the country. In the late 1960s, the Art Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Education of Thailand searched for dance pictures in ancient buildings that could be found all over the country, and reproduced traditional dances under the guidance of Ramon Yamaha. Thai dance is rich and colorful, full of ethnic customs, elegant and graceful. In the course of hundreds of years' development, in addition to inheriting the original dance elements of Thailand, it also absorbed the artistic nutrients of neighboring countries through various channels, forming the characteristics of Thai dance today. In the re-staged classical dance, we can see the dance styles of different ruling dynasties in the early days. These dances are reproduced according to the reliefs of ruins and archaeological sites, from which we can also see the influence of other neighboring countries on Thai dances. In the early history of Thailand, the cultures of neighboring countries and Thailand are interrelated, and there are mainly three historical stages.

Di Varava Di Dynasty (7- 1 1 century), Thailand fought many wars with the kingdom of Myanmar in the lower Mekong River. This stage is the period when Di Varava Di Dynasty was most influenced by Myanmar, and its music theory and musical instruments were influenced by Myanmar.

Chaya dynasty in Struve (8th-/Kloc-0th/3rd century), Chaya dynasty in Struve flourished in the east of Sumatra Island in Indonesia, and southern Thailand was most influenced by Indonesia. In the relief of Borobudur built in the 8th century in central Java, we can see the influence of Indonesian culture on Thai culture, such as traditional inspiration, puppet show and shadow play in Thai classical dance art. ..

Lopburi dynasty (11-14th century) was most influenced by Cambodian Khmer culture. As there have been many wars between Thailand and Cambodia, Khmer literati, artists and craftsmen captured in the war directly imported Khmer culture with strong Indian color into Thailand, thus forming an important foundation for the development of Thai dance culture. The influence of Khmer culture on Thai culture and art can be seen from the historical sites in lopburi area in central Thailand and northeast Bangkok.

With the development of history, influenced by geographical environment, social customs and the cultures of neighboring countries, Thai dance can be divided into two categories: drama dance and folk dance. These two kinds of dances laid the foundation of Thai traditional dance performance art and formed the Thai dance style seen today.
