Approved by the State Council, sponsored by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the State Sports General Administration, and undertaken by the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the 7th People's Republic of China (PRC) Traditional Sports Meeting was held in Yinchuan and Shizuishan from September 20 to 27, 2003. This Games will follow the principle of "equality, unity, hard work and forge ahead", fully display the traditional sports characteristics and sports level of ethnic minorities in China, cultivate and bring up outstanding national sports talents, and make contributions to carrying forward national culture, promoting national unity and further promoting the development of national sports in China.

The 7th National Minority Traditional Sports Meeting was held in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in September 2003.

This is the first time that Ningxia has held a large-scale national comprehensive sports meeting. The National Games have been held in Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Yunnan, Tibet and Beijing. So far, this national minority sports event has "walked" all over five ethnic autonomous regions.
