Character Profile of Zheng Jinsheng

Born in Jinan in 1879.

In 1900, he joined Yuan Shikai's new army as a soldier.

Beginning in 1904, he served as a post commander, platoon commander and team officer (company commander).

In 1908, he and Feng Yuxiang and a group of young officers organized the "Martial Arts Research Association" and secretly carried out anti-Qing activities.

In 1913, he became the commander of the 3rd Regiment of Army Cavalry, and in 1918, he became the commander of Suiyuan Army Mixed Brigade.
