Alternative investment is usually considered to be all investments outside the traditional investment, mainly including to several:

Alternative assets: such as natural assets, commodities, real estate, infrastructure, foreign exchange, intellectual property rights and so on.

Alternative investment strategies: long and short positions, structured products and so on.

Private equity: hedge funds such as venture capital, growth capital, M&A capital, and crisis capital.

One of the fundamental concepts of alternative investment is that the market may not always be efficient, and the prices of many companies and projects do not reflect their intrinsic value, so the further away from the public **** trading platform, the higher the deviation between price and value may be. The focus of alternative investment is then placed on enterprises and projects that are not listed, but have packaging potential, and the value of the acquired enterprise or project is reflected through purchase, reorganization, packaging, and cashing out.

Because they do not operate on a public*** trading platform, a key feature of alternative investments is their lack of liquidity. It usually takes a few years for a project to cash out from acquisition, so alternative investment funds usually have a lock-up period of 5 or 10 years, which makes it difficult to redeem in the middle of the process.
