The Yan'an period refers to the 13 years that the Central Committee of the People's Republic of China (PRC) spent in northern Shaanxi, specifically from October 19, 1935, when the PRC arrived in the town of Wuqi (present-day Wuqi County) in northern Shaanxi with the Central Red Army on a long march, and settled in northern Shaanxi, to March 23, 1948, when Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Ren Bishi crossed the Yellow River to welcome the dawn of the revolutionary victory in the eastern part of the town, in Wuqi County, northern Shaanxi Province.
