What are the differences between drones and remote control airplanes

There are differences in use, appearance and function.

Drones are mostly practical remote-controlled airplanes, which are powered by electricity and fuel, can carry detection instruments or rescue items, have duplex wireless communication and satellite navigation, and are controlled by the ground.

Remote-controlled airplanes are mostly experimental and adventure models with simpler functions.

Unmanned aircraft:

Unmanned aircraft, referred to as "drones", abbreviated as "UAV", is the use of radio remote control equipment and self-provided program control devices to manipulate the unmanned aircraft. From a technical point of view can be divided into: unmanned helicopters, unmanned fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned multi-rotor aircraft, unmanned airships, unmanned parachute aircraft and so on.

UAVs can be categorized into military and civil according to the field of application. For military use, UAVs are categorized into reconnaissance aircraft and target aircraft.

UAV+industry application is the real need of UAV. The current applications in aerial photography, agricultural plant protection, surveying and mapping have greatly expanded the use of the drone itself.

Remote-controlled aircraft:

Remote-controlled aircraft refers to flying machines that can be controlled from a distance. The earliest place in mainland China is to sell a single aircraft (i.e., aircraft and remote control sold separately), so the consumer cost will be very high, and at that time, technology is not very developed, and can not be completely in accordance with their own ideas to fly, the need to be very troublesome debugging the aircraft as well as the remote control, resulting in the limitations of the consumer group. With the development of science and technology, most of the remote control airplanes are all-in-one sales, and manufacturers have been debugged, for some beginner models have reached the state of the hands to fly, and the price is relatively low. RC airplanes have entered the ordinary family, which to play for fun as the leading direction; there are also some enthusiasts to modify it to achieve more entertainment (such as aerial photography, loads, etc.).
