How to make the central argument of argumentative paper clear

The central argument and its way of putting forward have always been common questions in argumentative essays for senior high school entrance examinations in various places, belonging to the test center of overall perception and generally being the first question in argumentative essays. Being able to answer this question confidently is very important for the overall reading of this paragraph.

The method of finding the central argument can be considered from five aspects.

Look at the location first. Although the central argument may be anywhere, it is most common in the general part, that is, the title, beginning and end. If the title is a complete and comprehensive sentence, then the title is the central argument. For example, "we need to think in life" and "traditional culture needs awe". If there are opinion sentences at the beginning and the end, then the argument is at the beginning and the conclusion may be at the end.

Second, look at the sentence patterns. The central argument is generally a declarative sentence, especially a judgmental sentence. There are also complex sentences, such as "only ……………" and so on. For example, "the purpose of learning is to improve health, improve intelligence and prosper the country", "Only by correctly positioning your life and giving full play to your potential can you succeed in your chosen field".

Third, look at the keywords. There are often suggestive keywords such as "I think" and "this shows" in front of the central argument.

Fourth, look at the topic. If the topic is not an argument, it will usually be a topic. The central argument we found should be around the theme. For example, the article "Responsibility" is titled, and the argument is that "every citizen should consciously assume his due responsibility".
