Basic knowledge of rosary

The rosary, also known as rosary and counting beads, mainly refers to the objects used by some religions in prayer, praise, chanting or practice. What do you know about the rosary? The following is my knowledge of rosary, I hope you like it!

The history of rosary

Taoism

Taoist records of the use of rosary originated from The Biography of Taiji Ge Gongxian, The Secret Records of the Cave in the Orthodox Taoist Collection, and The Collection of supernatant: When Ge Xiaoxian was just making an alchemy, he often held rosary in his hand, and often recited the Jade Emperor's poems for tens of thousands of times a day by the Dan furnace.

It is also recorded in Bai Yuchan's Law of Self-encouragement. Ge Zu used the words of rosary.

Hui Yuan of Taoism 177 is also recorded:? Anyone who is in a trance must first refine his qi and get used to it before he can live a life of god. Sit with your square face flat, tie your shoes with your hands, and move four times in one breath. Hold a rosary, pinch a bead every breath, and people of all ages will come and go normally, gradually increasing. Don't go to great trouble, for fear of inconvenience.

Ge Zu was born in Yan Xi, Han on April 8, 2007. A figure in the Sun Quan era of the Three Kingdoms in the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Ge zu founded the Taoist method of killing ghosts, exorcising ghosts into crossing ghosts, and establishing Lingbao to refine them into crossing ghosts. Later generations are using Gezu's Lingbao method to cross ghosts.

Therefore, the practice of chanting Buddha's name with rosary was initiated by Ge, but it was not carried forward by later generations. However, later generations only know that Buddhism has this method, and when chanting Buddha's name with rosary, it can be traced back to the source.

Buddhism

There are four original forms of Buddha beads in Sanskrit, which translated into Chinese means: counting beads, praying beads and crossing beads. Indians have the custom of wrapping beads since ancient times, and later it evolved into the use of rosary.

However, at first, Buddha beads were not used in Buddhism, and the earliest record was about the second century AD. However, during the Sui and Tang Dynasties (around 600 AD), China began to record the use of prayer beads and carved them when carving Buddha statues. The rosary was not created by Buddhism, and the rituals made in the Buddha's time were not remembered and worn, nor were they included in the "Eighteen Things for Monks".

Most Buddhist scriptures remember wearing rosary because of the classics of later generations, and none of the legal classics remember wearing rosary. Therefore, followers of Southern Buddhism who abide by the law rarely hold rosary, but rosary is highly valued in esoteric religions.

Classics introduced to China include Zi Mu Jing, Zhuzhu Merit Jing, Jingangding Yoga Jing and so on. The main content is about the merits and demerits of reciting the three treasures with beads. In a word, chanting beads can make Buddhist disciples introspect, and wearing hanging beads can increase their dignity. However, this record can be traced back to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which is in conflict and different from the laws of Southern Buddhism.

The meaning of rosary

Rosary: Also known as counting beads, rosary beads, mantra beads and Buddha beads. Buddhists use prayer beads to recite Buddha's name, in order to get rid of troubles, settle their hearts, or praise Amitabha in the west. Based on 108 rosary, there are 54 rosary beads, 27 rosary beads, 14 rosary beads (all half of them), 42 rosary beads, 2 rosary beads and 1080 rosary beads.

Origin: As soon as I picked up the rosary, I warned myself that my thoughts should be pure and never think about what I shouldn't. Never do something you shouldn't do. In this way, the heart can be carried out in good thoughts, and if it is good for a long time, it will be clear and wise. Just like when someone reads the Bible, he doesn't understand a word at first, but after reading it for a long time, he naturally understands and understands the truth. Is there something: holding beads? Good idea.

Good prayer beads: The main materials of prayer beads are: Bodhi, famous Buddhist wood, seven treasures of Buddhism, five-color beads and other such as wishful jewelry, earth and stone. It is made of logs and bodhi as the main materials, carefully crafted, combined with precious materials such as seven treasures of Buddhism, and built by modern aesthetic design. Life is different, Zen is different, and rosary is also diverse.

The number of beads is said to be meaningful. 108 means to get rid of 108 kinds of troubles. 1,080 represents 1,080 statues in the realm of King Kong. Fifty-four stars represent ten beliefs, ten lives, ten lines, ten times and ten places, fifty-four and four good roots. Forty-two stars represent forty-two people who live in ten places, ten lines, ten times and ten places. Twenty-seven stars represent eighteen scholars and nine scholars. Fourteen stars represent the fourteen fearlessness of Guanyin. Twenty-one stars represent ten places, ten dolphins and twenty-one Buddha fruits. The materials of rosary are gold, silver, copper, crystal, coral glass, wood, wood and so on.

First, the meaning of the name, rosary, literally, is a bead in the buddhist supplies. Specifically, it is a counting tool that Buddhists pull to capture their minds when they recite Buddha. Of course, non-Buddhists also wear it widely. Most people choose to wear rosary bracelets. Another meaning of the name of the rosary is: punishment, which means not punishing life. Whether you become a monk at home or not, the first commandment in Buddhism is not to kill. Each of us doesn't want to lose our own life, pushing ourselves and others, and so does every living being. The so-called heaven has the virtue of good life. Buddhism emphasizes this point even more, emphasizing that those who abstain from killing and nursing students must live a long and healthy life. Wearing a rosary on your body or holding it in your hand is also a constant reminder to cherish your life.

Second, the meaning of the shape, the rosary is generally spherical, indicating perfection, which means perfection. We often complain about many shortcomings in life and many human defects, but we have never found an important problem, which is difficult to explain in a thousand words in Buddhism: everyone has perfect wisdom and merits, but because of their unnecessary troubles, they hide these original perfect wisdom and cannot show it. As long as we can solve these unnecessary troubles, we can use them at will, just like the Buddha, who has three bodies, four minds, five eyes and six roots.
