When did the cataract surgery begin?
Cataract is a common eye disease, and patients are often blind because of it. Dr. China has accumulated rich experience in cataract treatment for more than 1000 years, among which the needle-needle cataract extraction is the most prominent. In the 11th year of Tianbao, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (752), the book "Secrets of Outer Platform" has comprehensively discussed the clinical manifestations of cataract, and also described congenital cataract and traumatic cataract respectively. The cataract extraction surgery described in it is the earliest systematic record in China. By the late Ming Dynasty (16th century), it was quite common for doctors to master this kind of operation. The biggest feature of this operation is that it is simple and easy to master, and it does not need complicated equipment. After the founding of New China, this ancient medical technology was developed and improved into "needle pulling". Pulling the needle can not only peel off the turbid lens, but also pull it out. Compared with western medicine, it has the advantages of simple method, short operation time, small incision and less pain for patients.
