Three pieces of Peking Opera accompaniment instruments

The three major pieces of Beijing Opera accompaniment instruments are divided into three pieces of literary field and three pieces of martial field. The three pieces in the literary field are Jinghu, Yueqin and Jinghu, and the three pieces in the martial arts field are Gong and Xiao Gong. Generally speaking, it is the three major blocks in the field of literature. When people talk about the three major pieces of Peking Opera, they default to Jinghu, Yueqin and Beijing Erhu.

Musically, it is divided into percussion instruments and orchestral music. Percussion instruments include banjo, Dan Pigu, gong and cymbal, which are called "martial arts field"; Orchestral instruments include Jinghu, Jinghu Erhu, Yueqin and Sanxian, which are called "Wenchang".

Erhu is an indispensable musical instrument in Peking Opera and the most distinctive stringed instrument among national musical instruments. Its barrels and stems are all made of bamboo. The barrels are small, the pitch is narrow, the range is unstable, the sound quality is solid and bright, and the pronunciation is powerful and favorable when ensemble.

Jinghu, also known as "urn", is an alto instrument created on the basis of erhu to meet the needs of Beijing opera music.

Yueqin has a small volume, crisp and soft timbre, and its range is about two octaves. It is the main accompaniment instrument that sings with Jinghu and Beijing Erhu.
