Kevin from the School of Architecture, Louisiana State University, sheffield hallam university, UK and the School of Environment and Design, National University of Singapore were invited to this meeting. John Kevin risks, Thomas? Allen? Professor Thomas Alan Sofranko, Professor Jason Ang and more than 20 overseas experts and scholars from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Also present at the meeting were Li, chairman of the China Architecture Society, former director of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Professor Shan Deqi from the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University. Professor Wu Qingzhou from the School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, Professor Qilu from the School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, director of the National Architectural Society of China Residential Building Professional Committee, and 100 experts and scholars from more than 40 well-known universities and professional units in China, including Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Tianjin University, South China University of Technology, Chongqing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi University of Architecture and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology and Hunan University. The number of experts and scholars attending the meeting reached nearly 200.

The conference was hosted by the National Architectural Society of China Residential Building Professional Committee and undertaken by the School of Architecture and Art Design of Hunan University of Science and Technology. The three-day conference published 43 reports through two plenary summits, two sub-conference forums and dozens of authoritative experts and scholars. With the theme of "protection and inheritance", the conference comprehensively analyzed the current situation and development trend of traditional dwellings in China, the latest laws and regulations on the protection of traditional dwellings, the successful cases of traditional dwellings at home and abroad, and various practical technical problems and the best solutions in the process of traditional dwellings protection from four aspects: research methods, protection and reuse of traditional dwellings, inheritance and innovation of traditional dwellings construction technology, and survival and development strategies of traditional settlements.
