Linear editing is a way of editing tapes, which is characterized by only going back and forth linearly in time sequence.

For example, if you are playing a video now, you can see the position for 30 minutes. At this time, if you want to watch 45 minutes of content, then you have to fast-forward between 30 and 45 minutes to see 45 minutes of content. If you look at the previous content, it is the same. In short, the content in the middle cannot be crossed.

On the contrary, nonlinear editing can jump directly to the point you want, and the content in the middle can be skipped directly.
