What does the roof mean?

The roof is a prominent part, usually in the middle of the roof, towering into the sky, but sometimes it will form an intersection line on both sides. This kind of building structure mainly appears in the ancient buildings in China, and sometimes it is designed into different shapes, such as the god beast. There are also many types of roofs, mainly according to different positions. For example, the middle is called positive ridge, angular ridge, spindle ridge, hammer ridge and so on.

Common roof types

1, positive ridge

Especially when the roof is positioned, it refers to the ridge made along the intersection line of the front and rear slopes of the roof. The ridge is often along the purlin direction, at the highest point of the roof. Different methods have different names for the right ridge, which are generally called by their names, such as crossing the ridge and clearing the water ridge.

2. Vertical ridge

Especially when the roof is in place. Any ridge that intersects with a positive ridge or a treasure top can be collectively called a vertical ridge. The vertical ridge of Xiandian is often called Xiandian Ridge. Xieshan, Hard Mountain and Hanging Mountain are often called Pailing.

3. Mountains

Roof, also known as King Kong Ridge, commonly known as "fork ridge", is the roof of a sloping hill that intersects with a vertical ridge. Because the roof is the roof along the corner beam, some people call the vertical ridge of the imperial palace the roof, and then call all the roofs along the corner beam, such as the vertical ridge of the pointed building and the corner ridge of the double-eaved building the roof. Among them, it is customarily called short fork ridge, such as the corner ridge of double-eaves building.

4. girth length

Roof, the roof along the eaves where the roof meets the wooden frame (such as rafters, roof slabs, etc.) ). The girth can be enclosed from beginning to end, so it is commonly known as "_ waist ridge". Some people call the fixed ridge the lower eaves ridge or the heavy ridge, or even the thousand knees ridge. It's too vague to call it eaves ridge or double eaves ridge. If it is also called a ridge, it will be confused with a real ridge. Therefore, since there are different names from other ridges, it is better to be clear.

Common materials for roofs

1, there are many kinds of roofing materials, the most common one is asphalt tile, which belongs to new waterproof building materials. The application scope of asphalt shingles is not only in some houses, including villas, but also can meet the construction requirements. The thickness of cement roof should not be less than 100 mm, and it should not be less than 30 mm in case of wood structure.

2. There are also wooden tiles, which are also a material of ancient buildings. Nowadays, many modern buildings also use wooden tiles, which can feel an ancient charm. This kind of tile has a long service life of up to 50 years. It is not easily influenced by the outdoor environment, and its structure is relatively simple.

3. Cement tile is the most common one in buildings now. Many colors, high strength and low cost are common in ordinary houses. As a waterproof and thermal insulation material, the effect is better.
