Teaching Setting

1. Professional Structure and Layout

The Department of Stage Art of the Chinese Academy of Opera has two majors, namely, Art Design for Drama, Film and Television and Costume Design, with six professional directions, namely, Stage Art Design for Chinese Opera, Costume Design for Chinese Opera, Stage Lighting Design, Makeup and Modeling Design, Choreography Engineering Design and Management, and Wardrobe and Wardrobe Technology and Management for Chinese Opera Costumes. 2. Cultivation Program and Experimentation

The Stage Art Department of the Chinese Academy of Opera began to prepare for the establishment in 1979, and the first undergraduate class of Opera Stage Art was enrolled in 1982. From then on, it opened up a new world of higher education for Chinese opera stage art majors. With the development and progress of the times, in recent years, it has carried out the teaching of six professional directions, namely, costume design for opera, stage lighting design, make-up design, design and management of choreography engineering, and technology and management of opera costumes. Thus, it has become an important base for training higher talents in stage art in China. I. Teaching Staff and Specialties

The Department of Stage Art has a strong teaching team, which enjoys a high reputation in both academic and industrial fields. Among them, there are 5 professors, 5 master's supervisors, 8 associate professors, 15 lecturers, 5 laboratory managers with associate senior title or above, and 5 laboratory administrators. The Department of Theatre Arts consists of five specialized teaching and research departments: Theatre Stage Design Department (Director: Prof. Dang Ning), Theatre Costume Design Department (Director: Prof. Liu Xiaoqing), Stage Lighting Design Department (Director: Associate Prof. Ma Lu), Costume Styling Design Department (Director: Associate Prof. Gong Yuan), and Design Foundation Department (Director: Associate Prof. Huang Jian).

There are 295 students enrolled in the department, with two levels of training: undergraduate and graduate. Over the past thirty years since the establishment of the department, it has trained a large number of stage art talents for professional troupes of the national culture and art system, art education, film and television, etc. It has made important contributions to the inheritance of traditional culture, the development of national art and the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.
