Japanese understanding and views on sex.
Let's talk about the color first. The emergence of Japanese "color" culture began with color. This should start with the formation of the Japanese nation.
According to ethnologists' research, Japan's ancestors were a mixture of mainland primitive inhabitants, southern primitive tribes and Japanese aborigines, and the spirit of the Japanese nation also mixed the spiritual traditions of these nations (primitive). What plays a leading role in these spirits, that is, what forms the bottom stream of Japanese national cultural spirit, is the ideological spirit of Japanese aborigines. The essence of this spirit is the narrow, slender, sensitive and simple personality characteristics of islanders. Here, I want to boldly criticize the prejudice of some people who don't understand Japanese culture. This is not to defend the Japanese, but to refute this shallow idea academically. These people always think that Japanese culture is entirely borrowed from others. In fact, Japanese culture consists of two parts-the surface and the deep. The surface of Japanese culture is absorbed foreign culture, including Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism absorbed from China and modern culture learned from the West. Of course, many of these ideas have also become the deep part of Japanese culture in the long-term localization. However, when Japan absorbs foreign cultures, it does not fully accept them, but draws lessons from them, which shows that Japanese people have local cultural origins at the bottom. This cultural origin is manifested in the rope pattern of Japanese culture and the cultural psychology formed in the yayoi period-island temperament: simple image, simple indifference, sensitive and slender, advocating nature and perceptual openness. The worship of nature forms the beauty of Japanese natural colors.
This natural color of culture is still preserved in the hearts of Japanese people. In particular, the love for the colors of the forest and the sea is unmatched by other ethnic groups. This is determined by the early living environment in Japan-forested islands and sea areas rich in seafood. As a result, the Japanese became interested in the elegant and simple colors in nature: blue sea, blue fir forest, white snow, green plants and bright moon, which also formed the basic phase of Japanese natural beauty and produced the philosophical realm of "harmony between man and nature".
Therefore, if we look at Japan's "color" culture from a historical perspective, we can't help but talk about Japanese views on color.
The Japanese nation is a nation that doesn't like to use strong colors. The color concept shown in literature, painting, architecture and clothing confirms this view.
Let me talk about another meaning of "color"-"eroticism". The reason why erotic culture spreads so widely in Japan that we don't understand it is because erotic culture has a long history and tradition in Japan. As a part of Japanese culture, "eroticism" is also related to the formation of Japanese characteristics. Japan's primitive marriage system has a long history, unlike the mainland, which made taboos and restrictions on marriage and sex very early (Spring and Autumn Period). When Japanese introduced mainland culture in the early Asuka period, the marriage system was still a remnant of promiscuous marriage system, and it was not until the reform that this kind of marriage was stipulated in the system. Therefore, when Japan formed its own national culture, this open attitude towards sex has penetrated into the national characteristics.
This feature began with the myth about the origin of Japan. According to the fairy tales recorded in Historical Records and Records of Japan, Xie Yi Nagi and Isobo ordered Er Shen, a man and a woman, to watch a pair of love birds kiss, learn to kiss and witness the combination of a pair of snipes. Inspired, Xie Yi Nagi asked, "How are you?" Izanami ordered the answer: "My body is gradually complete, but there is one place that is not closed." Xie Yi Nagi ordered, "I have an extra place in my body, so I will give it to you." So this pair of gods can't help but merge into one, resulting in Japanese islands, mountains, rivers, plants, as well as celestial gods and eight million gods who dominate islands and everything in the world. The Japanese call this combination "divine marriage". Therefore, Japanese gods can enjoy love and sex in peace. Japan has no sexual taboos based on religious reasons, and adopts a very tolerant attitude towards love and sex, which is exactly the Japanese view of * *.
Different from mainland culture's attitude towards sex, Japanese culture has adopted an open attitude. When Japan absorbed a lot of mainland culture, it only absorbed some things that were useful for their social progress, and rejected those things that conflicted with their inherent culture. Especially for Buddhist asceticism, because Japanese culture does not think that sex is the opposite of Buddhism. On the contrary, it attaches importance to human nature and lust, and takes a tolerant attitude towards love and sex. Japanese monks have the right to "eat meat and marry". /kloc-In the 3rd century, Qin Luan, the originator of Pure Land Sect, combined with Hui Xinni. /kloc-In the mid-Muromachi period of the 5th century, Lin Ji sent a famous monk, Yixiu, who was famous for drinking and lusting, and wrote many colourful poems about boudoir secrets in his frenzied gathering. In18th century, Liang Kuan, a famous monk, met and fell in love with Zhen Xinni, a beautiful female disciple. Shinto and Buddhism in Japan have no restrictions on sex, which affects Japanese ethics and daily life.
In the Edo era dominated by Zhuzi's thought of "preserving righteousness and destroying human desires", the Tokugawa shogunate banned behaviors that conflicted with Zhuzi's theory in society. Especially for kabuki's "Love to Death" drama, the government explicitly prohibits it. In addition, there is a "ban on loose politics and different research", [3] announcing the ban on theoretical research other than Zhu. But the government's high-handed policy was resisted by the people. Philosophically, China scholars, represented by He Maozhen Yuan and Chang Mingxian, have appeared, and put forward the view of abstinence which is contrary to Zhu Xue, focusing on instinctive catharsis and returning to the true colors of the Japanese. He Mao believes: "China's religion violates the nature of heaven and earth ... and binds things in the name of benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and faith." Xuanchang, who was born and raised, went further. He has been engaged in the revival of the love novel Tale of Genji all his life, which encourages the hedonism of the citizens. Even Hirata Tuyin, who pretends to be orthodox, is still called a beautifier of sensual liberation, and his followers actually have a school with the tradition of "strict Tao". [4] This also illustrates the conflict between Japan's inherent culture and foreign culture. In terms of literature, there are lascivious literature represented by Ihara Xihe, lascivious clean glass and kabuki plays by Simen near Songmen. Among Jinsong's plays, there is a sensational "Zeng Genqi's Love for Death", which was staged by several troupes in Kyoto, Osaka and other places and set off a craze. This is also the Japanese people's resistance to Zhu's thought of foreign government rule. The lewd tradition from ancient times to the Edo period has also penetrated into the context of modern romanticism, naturalism and aestheticism.
Japan's tolerant attitude towards sex is also reflected in daily life habits. People who have been to Japan think that Japanese people love cleanliness and "take a bath every day". There is also a special phenomenon in Japan, that is, men and women take mixed baths. This is immoral for people in other countries, but it is normal for the Japanese to face it calmly and not think it violates any ethics. Because sex and marriage are separated in Japan, we take a tolerant attitude towards nudity.
