The Motivation of China Culture from Tradition to Modernity
Due to internal factors, China's traditional culture underwent a qualitative change in the late Ming Dynasty, and it was about to break through the traditional shell and establish a brand-new new culture of people-oriented thought. Due to the influence of the Qing Dynasty's entry into China, the process of culture itself was broken, slowed down or even retrogressed. The culture of the Qing Dynasty is basically retro, which is a retrogression to ease social contradictions.
The "traditional culture" we are talking about now generally refers to the official culture (mainstream culture) of the Qing Dynasty, and so does the so-called "Confucius and Mencius". By the end of the Qing Dynasty, this decadent culture naturally failed.
External factors, the Opium War forced our people to see the world. The pain of failure has caused people to think about the disadvantages of local culture.
After that, the May 4th Movement and the National Salvation Movement were all the processes of national cultural reconstruction.
