What is the architectural pattern of Chaozhou traditional residence "Shanglugen"?

"Shanglugen" is a common building in Chaoshan area, also known as "lion climbing". Because of its architectural features, it looks like a tiger going down the mountain, hence the name "Shanglugen".

This pattern takes the gate as the mouth, the two front rooms are two front paws, which are called "da room", the back room is the abdomen, and the two large rooms on both sides of the hall are the rear paws. In a word, it is like a liger lying on the ground, with its big mouth open, absorbed and ready to go.

Its gate is concave barrel-shaped, in order to absorb and store the "essence" to the maximum extent. In this way, the whole building becomes a gourd-shaped space with wide mouth, narrow diameter (inner door frame) and large abdomen, thus achieving the purpose of hiding wind and gathering gas.
