The Department of Instrumental Music is a discipline integrating the research, teaching and performance of national instrumental music. The Department of Instrumental Music has undergraduate students 176 (four-year system), graduate students 19 (including degree classes, three-year system) and 6 advanced students (one-year system). The main musical instruments include guqin, zheng, pipa, sanxian, dulcimer, zhongruan, erhu, banhu, bass string, flute, pipe, sheng, suona and percussion instruments. Specialized courses include solo, ensemble, ensemble and so on.
Professional basic courses include China music history, western music history, introduction to China traditional music, solfeggio, harmony, musical form, piano, etc. All majors are in the leading position in China in textbook construction, theoretical research, teaching level and playing ability, and Cao Dewei's erhu, pipa, flute and other majors have reached the international advanced level.
The Department of Instrumental Music attaches great importance to the teaching material construction and theoretical research of national instrumental music. According to incomplete statistics, dozens of books and teaching materials have been published since 1980. Audio-visual products 100 sets or more; Dozens of academic papers have been published in national first-class publishing houses. Since the establishment of Wang Fandi Instrumental Music Department, teachers and students have won more than 200 prizes in various competitions at home and abroad, providing more than 1000 person-times for domestic and foreign art groups and educational institutions. Many graduates have become national first-class performers and educators. The Department of Instrumental Music has become the most representative teaching and academic base in China.
