How to make tenon-mortise structure
Main materials: wood, table saw, scriber, woodworking chisel, square, F clip, sandpaper, pencil, etc.
1. Design of rounded dovetail joint: First draw a right-angle dovetail joint with the thickness of intersecting wood of 3.4cm, and then draw the center of the circle in the inner corner 5.5cm away from the right-angle side. Then draw a semicircle with a radius of 5.5cm and a semicircle with a radius of 3. 1cm with compasses, thus forming a design drawing of fillet dovetail joint with a sapwood of 2.4cm.
2. Making a right-angle dovetail joint: Make a right-angle dovetail joint with two boards with a thickness of 3.4cm. When making it, it is called sliding. The purpose is to make the tenon and mortise binding, and when it is installed in the way of falling, it will fall tighter and tighter, which will increase the stability of the joint. Finally, when assembling the dovetail joint, in order to ensure the tight combination of the dovetail joint, flapping is needed during installation. If it is too tight, trim the mortise and tenon. If it is too loose, it needs to be made again. Pay attention to the direction of wood grain (straight grain).
3. Cutting fillet of dovetail joint: After making right-angle dovetail joint, draw the design size of fillet dovetail joint on right-angle dovetail joint with pencil. Then cut along the line with a table saw. Be careful not to cut into the drawing line when cutting, and the gesture should be decisive and stable. After cutting, sand it with sandpaper. Finally, remove the head tenon and tail tenon according to the tenon and mortise direction, and put them back after acceptance.
