A brief introduction to the origin and legend of Tomb-Sweeping Day.
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Zhong Er, the son of the State of Jin, fled abroad to avoid disaster. During this period, Zhong Er experienced many hardships. The courtiers who followed him left him and went their separate ways. Only a few people followed him, including a man named meson tui.
On one occasion, Zhong Er fainted from hunger. In order to save him, Jiexiu cut a piece of meat from his thigh and cooked it for Zhong Er.
Later, Zhong Er became the king of the State of Jin. After he became a monarch, he gave rewards to people who shared his joys and sorrows, except for mesons.
Jiezitui is not a man who is greedy for fame and fortune. He retired to Mianshan with his old mother. Later, Jin Wengong happened to think of it and felt very guilty. So he sent someone to Mianshan to ask meson to push him down the mountain, but he didn't come down. Jin Wengong personally invited him, but Jiezitui's home was locked, and he went to Mianshan with his old mother on his back. So someone advised people to prevent fire and pushed him down the mountain.
So Jin Wengong ordered the mountain to be burned. Later, it was found that meson tui and his old mother were burned to death under a willow tree.
Jin Wengong found a letter written by meson in a hole under the willow tree, urging Jin Wengong to be diligent.
To commemorate Jiexiu, Jin Wengong ordered Mianshan to be changed into Jiexiu, and ordered the whole country not to make a fire to cook on this day every year.
The following year, Jin Wengong came to worship and saw that the willow really came back from the dead. After the worship, Jin Wengong named this old willow Qingming Willow and named it Tomb-Sweeping Day.
