How to charge the car battery?

New charging method of automobile storage battery

Connect the positive battery to the positive power supply and the negative battery to the negative power supply. The initial charging is carried out in two stages: first, the initial charging current is used until bubbles are released from the electrolyte and the battery voltage rises to 2.3-2.4 V. Then the current is reduced to 1/2 of the initial charging current, and charging is continued until the electrolyte releases severe bubbles, and the specific characteristics and voltage remain stable for 3 hours. The total charging time is about 45-65 hours.

The temperature is controlled at 35-40 DEG C.. After initial charging, if the specific gravity of electrolyte is not up to standard, distilled water or electrolyte with specific gravity of 1.4 should be used for adjustment. Recharge for 2h after adjustment until the specific gravity meets the requirements.

After the first charge, the new battery often fails to reach its capacity and needs to be discharged. Discharge at a discharge rate of 20h (that is, discharge at a current of rated capacity 1/20 until the battery voltage drops to 1.75V), and then replenish the charging current to be sufficient. If the capacity is still lower than 90% of the rated capacity after one charge and discharge cycle, it should be charged and discharged again.

Judge whether the new car battery is fully charged.

(1) If the electrolyte "boils" and bubbles appear at the same time, the charging is completed.

(2) Measure the voltage value of the single battery. If the voltage does not fluctuate within 3 seconds and reaches 2.7V, it indicates that the charging is completed.

(3) Measuring the relative density of the electrolyte. If the density no longer fluctuates within 3h and reaches the maximum value, the charging is completed.

In use, the automobile battery is charged regularly.

The steps are as follows:

(1) First, adjust the liquid level of the battery to the specified height with distilled water or special supplementary liquid for the battery.

(2) Before charging, connect the battery to be charged according to the rated voltage and rated current of the charging equipment. The total voltage of series batteries cannot be greater than the rated voltage of charging equipment.

(3) Select the charging current of constant current charging according to the capacity of the battery. Constant current charging is carried out in two stages. The first stage charging current is one tenth of the rated capacity of the battery, and the second stage charging current is one twentieth of the rated capacity of the battery.

(4) After the battery is fully charged, check the density of battery electrolyte. If the electrolyte density does not meet the requirements, the electrolyte in the primary battery can be drained first; If the original density is too small, concentrated electrolyte with relative density can be added; If the original density is too large, it can be diluted by adding distilled water. After adjustment, the liquid level should meet the requirements.

In addition to fast charging, there is also a slow charging, and the charging time is 10- 15 hours. Those batteries with insufficient depth must be charged slowly, otherwise the charging time and amount are insufficient, which will directly affect the driving performance of the car. Although charging is a fairly simple operation, there are still some precautions:

Wear protective clothing when charging lead-acid batteries;

When charging, there should be no sparks near the car battery, and smoking is prohibited;

When charging one or more automobile batteries in parallel, the charger voltage should not exceed 16v.
