What is a shortwave single sideband radio?

Short-wave single sideband radio is a kind of radio communication equipment, which sends and receives one of the two sidebands of amplitude modulation signals.

The transmission system of single sideband radio is divided into prototype single sideband system and independent single sideband system. The former only transmits the information of the upper sideband or the first sideband, while the latter transmits different information in the upper sideband and the lower sideband. A sideband (with a bandwidth of 3 kHz) can transmit a sound, multiple messages or data. Compared with AM radio station, it has the advantages of saving spectrum, saving electricity, being easy to reuse and being less affected by selective fading, but the equipment is more complicated. Single sideband radio usually has a variety of working modes, such as constant amplitude newspaper, frequency shift newspaper, single sideband voice and amplitude modulation voice. Mainly used for remote and over-the-horizon communication.
