After only running 17 years, she has produced more than 300 generals, academicians and provincial and ministerial leaders.

The chairman specially wrote the school motto, came twice, General Peng went to the school three times, and eight of the "Top Ten Marshal" came.

She is from the Military Engineering College of China People's Liberation Army. Because the school is located in Harbin, she has a more intimate abbreviation-"Harbin Military Industry".

At the beginning of the founding of New China, facing the international situation of the Cold War and the bloody battles in the Korean battlefield, the army needed a large number of high-tech talents. 1952, in order to strengthen China's national defense modernization, the Central Military Commission decided to establish the Military Engineering College of the People's Liberation Army of China. Under the cordial care of the CPC Central Committee and the direct leadership of the Central Military Commission, it only took more than a year for Harbin military industry to grow from scratch. On September 1953, the first opening ceremony was held in Harbin Military Industry, which began to take shape in 1955. Later, it developed into a comprehensive military technical college covering the armed forces of the navy, land and air, and brought together various arms and services, and delivered it to New China successively.

Air Force Engineering Department is the first of five engineering departments established when Harbin Military Industry 1953 was founded, which is called the first department. 1966, Harbin Military Industry withdrew from the military sequence and was renamed Harbin Engineering University, and the Air Force Engineering Department was renamed Aviation Engineering Department. Although the Air Force Engineering Department is a powerful organizational system, it can be called the scale of an aviation college in terms of the comprehensive strength of teachers' level, specialty setting and materials and equipment.

During the period of 17, the department made nearly 100 scientific research achievements. Eight wind tunnels from low speed, transonic speed to supersonic speed were built, which provided a solid guarantee for the development of new aircraft and missiles.

1970, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology moved westward to Xi 'an, and the whole system was formally merged into Northwestern Polytechnical University. Since then, Xigong University, which was injected with the "Harbin Military Industry" gene, has a military lineage.

Joining the military industry is even more powerful. Eight majors in the Department of Aviation Engineering of Harbin Engineering University merged into the Department of Aircraft, the Department of Aeroengine, the Department of Avionics Engineering and the Department of Missile of Xigong University, which greatly enhanced the strength of related majors in the above departments. The doctoral supervisors of Harbin military industry account for nearly 1/3 of the total number of doctoral supervisors of Xigong University. The 665 teachers, cadres and workers represented by Luo and Cao Shouyu have maintained the fine tradition of Harbin's military industry and made outstanding contributions to the development of education in Xigong University.

In 20 18, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Northwestern Polytechnical University, the school edited and published the book "Adding Wings to Military Industry", recalling the years when Harbin Military Industry and Air Force Engineering Department merged into Northwestern Polytechnical University.
